Can You Convert This Layout To 2.0

Schizo, das yo iStock, girl? It looks good. God this image of GaGa looks so sharp & crisp! 'That' is what makes this so appealing to me; it looks likes almost in 3-D because the colors make her jump off the page! Then the slight shadow around her makes the colors pop even more! Layout designer, how did you achieve the crispness of this? Just curious.
